HiiROC Limited

Based in Hull, UK, and founded in 2019, HiiROC Limited operates as a technology company that develops and commercializes plasma torch technology for hydrogen production. The company was founded by its Chief Executive Officer Tim Davies, Chief Science Officer Ate Wiekamp, and Chief Commercial Officer Simon Morris. In November 2021, HiiROC Limited raised GBP 26 million in venture funding from new investors HydrogenOne Capital, Centrica, Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors Corporation, and Melrose. HiiROC offers a plasma torch technique that uses Thermal Plasma Electrolysis to produce hydrogen from biomethane, flare gas, and natural gas without emitting CO2 or causing other pollution.

The company's proprietary technology provides low-cost, zero-emission hydrogen production at a cost equivalent to steam methane reforming. HiiROC Limited plans to use the November funds to expand the deployment of its pilot units to new consumer groups and to position its technology for future deployment. Furthermore, the funds will be utilized to expedite its technical development, allowing it to be applied in fields such as low-carbon synthetic fuels and gas flaring/venting mitigation to assist reach the global methane emission reduction goals set out at COP26.
