Based in California, US and founded in 2016 by Ramandeep Girn, Higher Ground Education provides modernize and mainstream Montessori education in over 80 locations across the US and China. As of April 2021, the company has been able to serve about 7000 students worldwide. In 2020, the company added 27 new campuses and doubled its enrolment across the program to its network of schools. In January 2021, the company raised USD 40 million in a Series C funding led by new investor Venn Growth Partners, with participation from returning investors Learn Capital, Nimble Ventures, and Peak State Ventures.


As a part of the Series C funding round, the company acquired Altitude Learning LMS technology, engineering and product teams. In April 2021, Higher Ground Education Inc. raised USD 30 million in Series D funding led by returning investor Learn Capital. As a part of the Series D funding round, the company acquired FreshGrade and as a result of this, the company has raised total funding of USD 70 million as of August 2021.


The company’s platform offers EdTech services, systems and resources to students, parents, and educators. Also, the company has grown into an omnichannel business offering virtual, at-home, and in-person learning options that enable educators, students and parents to access Montessori education. Higher Ground also operates The Prepared Montessorian, an internationally accredited teacher training program, which supports the global Montessori sector in its workforce development. The company generates revenue by assisting parents to open a school, helping school operators or a teacher looking for educational resources and providing EdTech services and resources to students, parents and educators.


The company plans to use the proceeds from its April 2021 acquisition and funding round to support its continued investments in technology, training, curriculum and international growth.
