Based in California, US, Genesys Cloud Services, Inc. is a software company founded in October 1990 by Gregory Shenkman and Alec Miloslavsky. The company started its international expansion in 1995 when it established a wholly owned subsidiary in the UK, and subsequently, the following year it opened another one in Russia. It completed its IPO in June 1997 on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol "GCTI", raising USD 45 million at USD 18 per share.
Eventually, in January 2000, Alcatel took the company private for USD 1. 5 billion. After 12 years, in February 2012, the firm was then sold to Permira and Technology Crossover Ventures for USD 1. 5 billion.
As of September 2021, Genesys Cloud Services, Inc. has expanded approximately 100 countries with more than 5000 staff members, all working under the leadership of its CEO, Tony Bates. Genesys provides an AI‑powered customer experience (CX) platform designed for large enterprises to orchestrate seamless, personalised interactions across every channel.
