Based in Mumbai, India, and founded in 1987, Future Retail Limited, f. k. a Pantaloon Retail Ltd. , is the retail division of the Future Group, that owns and manages a portfolio of retail stores including convenience stores, supermarkets, groceries, bookshops, and electronics stores, across the country.
In 2012, Pantaloon Retail Ltd. merged with Future Group’s subsidiary, Future Value Retail Ltd. , and was renamed Future Retail Limited. The company trades on both NSE (ticker symbol: FRETAIL) and BSE (Scrip Code: 540064).
As of November 2021, the company is being led by its Group’s CEO and founder Kishore Biyani, and employs 21,839 employees across the country. Future Retail Limited owns and operates the retail supermarket, hypermarket, fashion, and food chains, Big Bazaar, Food Hall, FBB, EasyDay Club, Hypercity, Foodworld, WH Smith, and Heritage fresh. Through its online platforms and more than 1,500 retail outlets, the company serves customers from over 400 cities across India. Future Retail Limited generated a revenue of INR 2,348 crores in the quarter ended September 2021, and INR 6,437 crore in the financial year ended March 2021.
