About
Based in Tennessee, the US, Eastman Chemical Company's Tire Additives Business Product Lines, now Flexsys America L. P. produces specialty chemicals, raw materials, and additives for the tire industry offering solutions for tire formulators for wet grip, rolling resistance, durability, and handling. The company serves blue-chip customers and as of 2021, it is chaired by Mark Costa as CEO.
In 2021, One Rock Capital Partners, LLC acquired Eastman Chemical Company's Tire Additives Business Product Lines for USD 800 million and rebranded as Flexsys. As of 2021, the business employs over 500 people at seven plants and two technology centers. The sale of the tire additives business product lines include Crystex™ and Santoflex™ and other product lines and related assets and technology but does not include Impera™ and other performance resins. The company’s solutions for tire formulations include Crystex™ insoluble sulfur and Santoflex™ antidegradants.
Crystex offers insoluble sulfur as the vulcanizing agent that is used to treat rubber at high heat to improve its elasticity and includes products such as Crystex™ 60 OT 10, Crystex™ HD OT 20, and Crystex™ HS OT 10 among others. Santoflex offers 4-aminodiphenylamine (4-ADPA) intermediate-based products in the family of the Para-phenylenediamines (PPDs) that prevent premature aging and degradation of rubber. Eastman also provides Impera™ performance resins that help the tire brands to deliver the desired balance of performance and safety as well as propure monomer resins (PMRs), C5s, C9s, and rosin resins and includes products such as Impera™ D1506, D1606, and E1501 hydrocarbon resin. Post the sale, the company plans to work closely with the management to enhance its portfolio of product and service offerings.
