Founded in 1994 and based in the Netherlands, Endemol Entertainment Holding NV, doing business as Endemol, was a media company that focused on providing television shows and multiplatform entertainment content such as drama, reality TV, game and comedy shows, documentary and children's programming. The company was established by Joop van den Ende and John de Mol through the merger of their television production firms, and operated in over 30 countries. In 2007, the company was acquired by Mediaset, from whom Apollo Global Management acquired Endemol in 2012. In 2014, the company merged Endemol Entertainment Holding NV, Core Media Group, and Shine TV to form Endemol Shine Group, established by Apollo Global Management and Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc.
The company mainly provided and distributed multiplatform entertainment content and tv shows, including scripted and non-scripted categories. It covered genres such as reality TV shows, drama, game, comedy, documentary and children's programming. Some of its programmes are ‘Big Brother’, ‘Deal or No Deal’, ‘The Money Drop’ and ‘Fear Factor’.
