About
Based in Thuringia, Germany, and founded in 1996, EAS Batteries GmbH develops lithium-ion batteries for space, defense, public transportation, commercial fleet, construction and other industries. The company partnered with BMW Group to accelerate the development of cylindrical battery cells. The cells have a diameter of 46 millimeters and are meant to be used for the purely electric drive of future BMW models. BMW officially presented the cylindrical cell format in September 2022.
Also, in June 2017, Monbat Group fully acquired the company. And in 2022, Britishvolt Limited, a portfolio company of Axxis Geo Solutions, Bank of America, Citibank, Glencore Plc, NG Bailey Group Limited, Peel Hunt and Scorpio Group, acquired Monbat Group's subsidiary, EAS Batteries GmbH for EUR 36 million. The company offers large-format cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells from 7. 5 Ah to 50 Ah.
