About

Based in the United Kingdom, Dogtooth Technologies Limited operates as a developer and manufacturer of AI-powered autonomous harvesting robots for horticultural growers. The company provides strawberry-picking robots, crop-yield forecasting, quality inspection and fleet-control software. Based in Melbourn, UK, and founded in 2014 by co-founders Duncan Robertson and Ed Herbert and Mat Cook. The company has developed commercial robotic harvesting solutions since 2016.

As of July 2026, Robertson leads the company as Founder and CEO, with Herbert as Founder and COO and Cook as CSO. On 8 July 2026, Dogtooth Technologies Limited secured more than GBP 14 million in growth capital comprising equity investment from 24 Haymarket, EMV Capital and ACF Investors, grant funding from Innovate UK, and a venture leasing facility from Kineo Finance. Dogtooth's product lineup includes strawberry harvesting robots, which are capable of picking an impressive 200kg of fruit per day. The robots are designed to seamlessly integrate with the table-top growing systems prevalent in glasshouse and polytunnel environments.

These fifth-generation robots boast capabilities such as autonomously navigating crop rows, identifying and harvesting ripe fruit, and conducting on-board quality control. Additionally, the company offers the Yield Forecasting System, which offers accurate predictions of crop yields within a 7–14-day window. Utilizing accomplished image capture and industry-leading machine learning algorithms, the system provides actionable insights rather than overwhelming users with data. By optimizing factors such as harvest intervals and ripeness levels, farmers can maximize yields while minimizing waste, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and profitability.

In addition to yield forecasting, Dogtooth Technologies offers a range of other products, including mobile crop condition monitoring units designed for lightweight and easy data capture processes. These units seamlessly integrate with existing harvest trolleys, providing farmers with real-time insights into crop health and productivity. The firm boasts over 70 robots operating across 5 hectares as of 2022. Dogtooth generates revenue by selling fifth-generation robotic harvesting systems to commercial horticultural growers.

Dogtooth plans to expand commercial deployments across the UK and international markets, strengthen its technology platform and accelerate adoption of autonomous harvesting systems. Its stated innovation pipeline includes yield monitoring and forecasting and expansion of robotic picking capabilities to raspberries and apples.
