Based in Melbourne, Australia, and founded in 2019 by CEO Hon Weng Chong, CCLabs Pty Ltd, d. b. a. Cortical Labs is a biotech startup that builds a generation of biological computer chips by the combination of biological intelligence with upgradable machine parts.


In March 2026, Cortical Labs raised an undisclosed amount of venture funding co-led Horizon Founders Capital and 3C Capital, with participation from Gobi Partners. CCLabs provides biological computer chips for autonomous robots with self-programming capabilities. The company also provides dishbrains, which are hybrid-biological cells that are used in hybrid-biological computers for application in the field of precision medicine. The company plans to use the April 2023 funding to further accelerate the commercialization of its patented biological intelligence operating system.
