Based in Sydney, Australia, and founded in 2020, Carted, Inc. , d/b/a Carted, is a developer of application programming interface (API), intended at creating the concept of universal commerce, that is to embed commerce within the online experiences. The firm was co-founded by Holly Cardew, CEO (founder of Pixc), and Mike Angell(CTO), the pair who founded Vop, an app that allows retailers and brands to put their TikTok feed directly onto the Shopify store. In May 2021, Carted, Inc.

raised AUD 13 million in seed funding led by new investor Blackbird, with participation from other new investors Tidal Ventures, Streamlined Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures, and Grok Ventures. Returning investor TEN13 and individual investors also participated in the round. As of August 2021, the firm is exclusively operating the private beta version of the platform only. The company operates with a vision of creating a universal commerce tool, an API, which allows developers, platforms, influencers, and creators to directly sell products and services on their own platform, thus eliminating affiliate links and the need of integrating with brands and retailers one by one and offers a revenue generation stream for them.

The firm's API, the software intermediary, will connect developers and creators to billions of sellable products and will power commerce experiences anywhere on the internet, allowing them to build a checkout anywhere. It enhances any developers or creators or platforms - to turn into a commerce platform and enables the sales of any product through direct checkout, thus allowing contextual commerce. The company plans to use the funding to build out the core API and demonstrate value across a few platforms.
