Carcinotech Ltd

Based in Edinburgh, UK, and founded in 2018, Carcinotech Ltd. is a MedTech company manufacturing 3D-printed mini tumors developed from patient-specific cancer stem cells, primary cells, and established cell lines. In December 2023, the firm raised GBP 4. 3 million in venture funding led by returning investor Eos Advisory, with participation from investors by Maven Capital Partners, Scottish Enterprise, Old College Capital, and Investing Women Angels.

Returning investors TRICAPITAL, SIS Ventures, Gabriel Investment, and Alba Equity also participated in the round.   The company provides 3D bioprinted models of cancer microenvironments which include CarcinoGBM™, offering a platform for in vitro high-throughput, accurate, and rapid drug discovery and screening for combinatorial and repurposed drugs; CarcinoTNBC™, which are models of triple-negative breast cancer; CarcinoER™, which are models of estrogen receptor-positive microenvironments offering a platform for in vitro high throughput drug screening; and CarcinoLC™, which are models of the lung cancer microenvironment, particularly non-small cell lung cancer. The firm's models can be used as a tool for drug testing, cancer drug discovery, and the study of cancer biology, these models are validated to ensure consistency, use advanced AI-driven manufacturing to ensure throughput and results, and are quality controlled to produce predictive assay-ready models. Carcinotech Ltd plans to use the January 2024 funding to support its research and development and US expansion.
