Based in the US, Blackrock Global Investors (BGI), formerly Barclays Global Investors division operates as an investment management business. In June 2009, Blackrock agreed to purchase the Barclays Global Investors from Barclays for USD 13. 5 billion. The deal was completed in December of that same year for USD 15.
