Benzhi Activation

Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Shanghai, China, Benzhi Activation originated from the IPADS Lab at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The company was established by a team of faculty members and PhD researchers led by Associate Professor and PhD advisor Zeyu Mi. In July 2025, the company raised a Seed round led by Yunqi Partners, with participation from Baidu Ventures and Lighthouse Capital. The company builds AI models designed specifically for edge environments, targeting devices with limited computing power and storage without relying on traditional model compression.

One of its edge-native models has been open-sourced, among the first globally in its category. In addition to its AI research, the company also develops enterprise-focused HR software, including Talent Management System (TMS) for internal HR workflows and Talent Assessment System (TAS) for evaluating and managing workforce capabilities. The company generates revenue through software licensing and subscriptions for its TMS and TAS platforms, as well as from edge AI model deployment and related consulting services. The company aims to advance its edge-native AI model architecture, grow its open model ecosystem, expand collaborations with chip and device manufacturers and further develop its SaaS offerings in both the HR and edge AI sectors.
