Based in Singapore and founded in 2021, Astar Network, formerly known as Plasm Network, is a multi-VM (virtual machine) scalable smart contract platform on Polkadot. Sota Watanabe is the founder of the company. In January 2021, Plasm Network raised USD 2. 4 million in series A funding led by new investor Binance Labs.
Astar Network is an interoperable and EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine)-compatible infrastructure built on top of the Substrate framework and is the hub for dApps within the Polkadot Ecosystem. People can stake their tokens in a smart contract on the Astar Network to reward projects that add value to the network. Ethereum, WebAssembly, dApp Staking, and Layer2 solutions are all supported. The series A investment received in January 2021 will enable Astar Network to accelerate research and development, expand resources and business development, and bridge the Binance and Polkadot communities.
