In June 2022, Mitsui Chemicals invested in Apeiron AgroCommodities Pte. Ltd. Apeiron Bioenergy collects waste from restaurants, hotels, and food manufacturers and recycles this waste into environmentally friendly products, mainly biodiesel and renewable diesel. The company provides various bioenergy products, including used cooking oil (UCO), palm oil mill effluent (POME), used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME), tallow (an animal fat), and crude glycerin.
As of 2023, the company had two refineries and nine collection warehouses across Asia. The investment will help Apeiron AgroCommodities Pte. Ltd. expand its market presence.
