Based in Germany, and founded in 2008, Altus Renewables GmbH emerged from wat ingenieurgesellschaft mbH. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kraftwerke Mainz-Wiesbaden AG (KMW). The firm provides end-to-end services that span the entire lifecycle of renewable energy projects—from site selection and planning to construction, financing, and operational management. In November 2023, Albioma, a portfolio company of Bpifrance Investissement and KKR, agreed to acquire Altus Renewables.
The deal was completed in December 2023. ALTUS renewables GmbH offer services across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects. The company identifies and evaluates land for the development of wind and photovoltaic installations. It manages the permitting process and prepares projects for execution.
ALTUS renewables oversee the technical planning and supports clients through regulatory tendering procedures. It conducts procurement processes for construction and equipment, supervises the construction phase, and ensures grid connection. The company arranges financing and manages energy sales for completed installations. Once operational, ALTUS handles both technical and commercial management, including maintenance.
It also supports repowering efforts by replacing older wind turbines. ALTUS has developed wind energy projects with a combined capacity of over 480 megawatts (MW) and photovoltaic systems generating more than 280 megawatt-peak (MWp).
