Allison, and based in Indiana, US, Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc. aka Allison Transmission operates as a manufacturer and developer of automotive transmissions and systems to the defense and transportation industries. In 2007, The Carlyle Group, Onex Corporation, and Ardian acquired Allison Transmission from General Motors Corporation for USD 5. 575 billion. Additionally, in 2012, Allison Transmissions became a publicly listed company on the New York Stock Exchange trading under the symbol ALSN. As of December 2021, the company has approximately 3,400 employees.
Allison Transmission offers vehicle propulsion solutions for commercial and defense vehicles, medium and heavy-duty fully automatic transmissions, and electrified propulsion systems used in a wide variety of applications, including on-highway trucks, buses, motorhomes, off-highway vehicles and equipment, and defense vehicles. As part of its EV solutions, the company also offers fully integrated electric axles under eGen Power™. In 2021, Allison Transmission generated USD 2. 4 billion in revenue and USD 2 billion in 2020.
