
How would you describe your role?
I am responsible for ensuring that all internal and external stakeholders receive best-in-class support and services as it relates to our data offering. This includes ensuring that internal processes allow us to efficiently receive and address requests/feedback, and developing new ways to help clients access data in meaningful and impactful ways for their business.
How has your career progressed since you joined Preqin?
I first joined Preqin in 2014 having completed a 13-month Internship with the London Research team. This was part of a program between Preqin and University of Bath, where I was studying for my undergraduate degree in Sociology. After graduation, I returned to the research team in London and progressed to the position of Senior Analyst, remaining there until I relocated to San Francisco in 2019.
I rejoined the business at the start of 2020 in a role focusing on developing new and existing client relationships through innovative data delivery and education. In 2022, I joined the global research leadership team, starting a new role focused on de-risking internal processes and increasing efficiency by introducing new technical solutions and re-developing global policies.
What achievement are you most proud of?
Outside of my day-to-day responsibilities, I've worked to drive initiatives that further develop Preqin's culture of openness, respect, and innovation. In 2020, I led the launch of Preqin's first regional Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) team in the Americas which, since inception, has established four employee resource groups (Women's Initiative Network, Mental Health Aids, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC).
These groups have advocated for communities represented within the Americas and helped introduce new policies and employee benefits. The introduction of this team subsequently led to the launch of additional DEI committees in EMEA and APAC, providing full support across all regions and communities represented at Preqin.
What is your favorite thing about working at Preqin?
As Preqin is a well-established firm at the forefront of the alternative assets industry, it continues to innovate and develop rapidly each year. This is made possible by the environment of openness, innovation, and respect that exists across the business.
Not only does Preqin attract fantastic talent with a broad range of perspectives and skills, it also nurtures a culture that allows discussion and debate to flourish. What advice would you give to someone who would like to have a career in Research?
Think about what type of work interests you and what skills you will need to progress towards, but also keep an open mind to all opportunities to develop yourself (even in areas you don’t enjoy as much or want to pursue further in your career).
Having a curious mindset, asking questions, and continuously developing your skills will help you to be agile, tackle challenges, and set clear personal and professional development goals to propel you forward!
