Top five private equity funds of funds in market raising capital

Preqin monitors private equity funds of funds vehicles seeking capital for investment. Currently, the largest vehicle in terms of capital being targeted is HarbourVest International VI Partnership which is seeking USD 3 billion in capital.  The fund of funds will make investments in private equity funds focused on Europe, Asia and other regions outside of North America allowing customized exposure for investors to the various geographies, sectors and fund types. The next largest vehicle is Guochuang Kaiyuan Fund of Funds which will target USD 1.54billon. It will specifically target Chinese private equity funds that are denominated in CNY and which invest in strategic industries that have obtained key support from the government.

Siguler Guff Distressed Opportunities Fund IV is targeting USD 1.5 billion. The fund will look to build a global portfolio of private equity funds investing in securities of companies undergoing financial distress, operating difficulties or significant restructuring. HarbourVest Partners IX – Buyout is also targeting USD 1.5 billion; it will invest in buyout vehicles, with a particular focus on US-based managers.

Morgan Stanley Private Markets Fund V is targeting USD 1.25 billion. The fund has a broad investment remit, targeting various fund types including buyout, venture and mezzanine funds globally.
