Private Equity Firms Currently Raising Balanced Funds

Preqin’s extensive Funds in Market database shows that some of the balanced funds currently fundraising include Apax France VIII, ICICI Venture Capital Fund III, BlackFin Financial Services and Explorer III.

Apax Partners is a UK-based private equity firm that has raised USD 32 billion in private equity funds over the last 10 years. The firm invests in companies across its five chosen global growth sectors - technology & telecommunications, retail & consumer, media, healthcare, financial & business services. Apax France VIII is a balanced fund targeting EUR 700 million.

ICICI Venture Funds Management, a subsidiary of ICICI Bank, is one of the largest private equity and venture capital firms in India. The ICICI Venture Capital Fund III is targeting to raise USD 500 million.

BlackFin Capital Partners’ first fund is BlackFin Financial Services Fund. A first-time and balanced fund, it aims to target small and mid-sized financial services and insurance companies in France. The fund raised EUR 60 million at the end of 2009 from institutional investors and family offices in France and will continue fundraising to reach its goal of EUR 300 million.

Explorer Investments was founded in 2003 to help Portuguese companies invest in Spain. Currently investing from two previous funds, the firm has made 14 investments, three of which have been exited. Its third balanced fund, Explorer III, is aiming to raise EUR 300 million and will invest EUR 15 million to EUR 45 million in 9 to 12 Iberian companies. The fund is aiming for a final close this year.
