The SEK 8.5 billion Pressens Pensionskassa has decided that it will not be investing in private equity real estate. The private pension fund has only invested in direct property in Sweden, but early last year it was considering making a maiden allocation to private equity real estate funds. It was concerned about the level of risk associated with private real estate investments, the leverage utilized by these funds and the long-term nature of the investment. It will now focus on diversifying its direct portfolio that currently comprises residential assets. The pension fund is in the process of selling some residential properties and re-directing the capital to purchase office and commercial properties in Sweden.
