Following its recent purchase of a portion of CDP Capital – Private Equity Group’s private equity portfolio, Partners Group has emerged as the lead bidder for a US private equity portfolio that Royal Bank of Scotland is looking to sell on the secondary market. In May 2010 the bank decided to sell the portfolio, which is worth approximately USD 250 million, in order to remove further non-core assets from its portfolio. Royal Bank of Scotland is also in the process of selling a EUR 400 million European private equity portfolio to AlpInvest Partners which it brought to the market back in February of this year.

Preqin’s Secondary Market Monitor database contains profiles for over 1,600 investors, with 35% of them being possible buyers of private equity or private equity real estate fund interests on the secondary market and 16% of them being possible sellers of private equity or private equity real estate fund stakes.
