Private equity fund of funds manager Pantheon has held a final close on Pantheon Asia Fund VI. Its strategy is to create a portfolio of 25 to 30 high-quality private equity assets diversified by manager, stage, geography, vintage year and industry sector. Targeted geographies will include Australia, China, India, Japan, and South Korea. The fund will invest in buyout, venture capital, growth capital and special situations funds, but it can also invest up to 20% of its capital in direct co-investments and secondary investments. Forty percent of the fund’s capital has already been committed, and further commitments are anticipated in the coming months.

Presently, Pantheon has a number of other private equity fund of funds vehicles raising capital and targeting various other geographies.  Pantheon Emerging Asia Fund VI will be a more concentrated portfolio than Pantheon Asia Fund VI, and will place an emphasis on opportunities in China and India. Pantheon is also raising capital for Pantheon Europe Fund VII and Pantheon Europe Mid-Market Fund VII – the latter fund will focus on mid-market vehicles in Europe, while Pantheon USA Fund IX and Pantheon USA Small Funds Program IX will focus on the US. Pantheon Emerging Markets Fund is due to begin raising capital in Q4 2012. The fund will invest in emerging markets in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Central and Eastern Europe.
