Preqin’s Fund Manager Profiles product currently holds information on 83 private equity firms based in Israel. Over the past 10 years, these firms have collectively raised USD 10.7 billion in capital commitments and have an estimated USD 4.1 billion remaining in dry powder. DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures has raised the most capital out of the Israel-based firms across the period, with over USD 2.7 billion raised through two venture funds focused on investments within the Israel and one venture fund focused on investment opportunities in Russia.
83% of the 83 private equity firms based in Israel adopt venture capital as their principal strategy with a large proportion primarily targeting early stage investments. A further 9% of firms focus on buyout opportunities. The remainder focus on other investment strategies such as mezzanine and distressed opportunities. All of the 83 private equity firms target investments within Israel, with 69% focusing solely on investing domestically and the remainder seeking investment opportunities further afield.
Besides DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures, the next two largest Israel-based private equity firms in terms of capital raised in the last decade are First Israel Mezzanine Investors, having raised USD 914 million for buyout and mezzanine investing, and Markstone Capital Group, having raised almost USD 800 million for venture, growth and buyout opportunities.
