Preqin’s Fund Manager Profiles product reveals there are currently 63 Israel-based private equity firms that have raised a private equity fund. Over the last ten years, these firms have collectively raised $11.2bn and have an estimated $3.7bn still available in dry powder.
The majority of these private equity fund managers raise venture capital funds, with 55 of these firms having raised such vehicles, 18 of which focus exclusively on early stage investments. The top three Israel-based fund managers in terms of aggregate capital raised for private equity investing over the last ten years are DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures, First Israel Mezzanine Investors and Markstone Capital Group.
DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures is a venture capital group based in Tel Aviv. The firm partners with Israeli entrepreneurs in the areas of information technology, communications, internet and emerging technologies such as life sciences, clean energy and agro-technology. The firm has raised $2.7bn over the last ten years for early stage and general venture capital investments. The latest fund DFJ raised was the €2bn Tamir Fishman Russia Venture Capital Fund in 2008.
