Preqin data shows that there are 804 funds located in North America currently on the road attempting to raise an aggregate of USD 337.7 billion in capital commitments. Real Estate vehicles are the most numerous type of fund accounting for 246 out of the 804 funds on the road and targeting a total of USD 89.9 billion. Private equity buyout funds located in the region are the next most prolific fund type, with 120 vehicles looking to raise capital commitments of USD 77.8 billion.
The largest of the 804 private equity funds currently seeking capital is Blackstone Capital Partners VI. This mega buyout vehicle from Blackstone Group is seeking USD 15 billion in capital commitments which it intends to invest globally. The fund takes a generalist approach to industry focus and will invest across a range of industries.
The next two largest funds currently seeking capital are Morgan Stanley Capital Partners V, a buyout fund from Morgan Stanley Private Equity currently targeting USD 6 billion in capital commitments, and Real Estate Turnaround Investment Program, a USD 5.5 billion vehicle currently being raised by Brookfield Asset Management. Morgan Stanley Capital Partners V will target investments in North American, European and Asian opportunities in a variety of industry sectors. Real Estate Turnaround Investment Program is being raised with the intention of using equity and debt to invest in under-valued real estate companies or real estate portfolios.
