China Reinsurance (Group) Company is looking to gain exposure to real estate as part of its plans to make investments in non-insurance sectors. It is making the move in an effort to boost earnings, while also diversifying its operations and becoming a comprehensive financial group. It is currently formulating its longer-term investment strategy by studying the government’s investment guidelines for insurance companies (released in September 2010).  As such, it does not have definite geographical and property type preferences at this point in time. It intends to increase its exposure to real estate through both funds and direct investments. The company will study partnership proposals and will commit to funds that fit the company’s requirements.
