Established in Q2 of 2002, ValueAligned Partners (formerly known as Rapidan Capital) is a value-oriented hedge fund management firm. It aims to invest in undervalued companies in order to achieve high absolute rates of return while minimizing the risk of capital loss. ValueAligned Partners was founded by David Berkowitz, a corporate finance consultant at Stern Stewart & Co, a worldwide management consulting firm. Mr. Berkowitz was in charge of the North American Economic Value Added (EVA) implementation and in advising manufacturing companies on shareholder value issues. Prior to his work at Stern Stewart, Mr. Berkowitz was the COO and head trader for Woodward & Associates, a hedge fund company based in New York City.
