Sculptor Capital Management, founded in 1994, is a diverse global alternative asset management firm with offices across North America, Europe and Asia. The firm manages an array of investment funds including multi-strategy funds, credit funds, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), real estate funds and other alternative investment vehicles. The firm's multi-strategy platform opened to external investors in 1998. It employs an opportunistic approach follows five different strategies including long/short equity, special situations, merger arbitrage, fixed income arbitrage and convertible arbitrage. Sculptor Capital Management also utilizes credit strategies focusing on complex situations across global corporate and structured credit markets, including liquidations and restructuring. It also manages portfolios of loans and other asset classes. Founded in 2003 by Steve Orbuch, Sculptor Real Estate specializes in the acquisition and development of real estate assets and the management of private real estate funds. It focuses on four major sectors of real estate including office, industrial, retail and multi-family properties across primarily the US, but also in Asia and Europe. Since 2007, the firm invests in real estate credit products including first lien loans, mezzanine loans, b-notes, ground leases and other credit investments.
