Based in Tokyo, SBI Investment is a venture capital and private equity firm operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SBI Holdings. SBI Investment invests in venture companies globally, across all stages of development, and across a wide array of sectors. It focuses on the growth sectors including IT, telecom/media, biotechnology, and life science as well as emerging technologies such as AI, Blockchain, and IoT. The firm invests in Japan, Asia, the US, and Europe. SBI Investment adopts hands-on approach to the management of its portfolio companies, actively proposing business alliances, introducing management talents, as well as helping with business management and capital policy. The firm sources more than 1,000 deals per annum and supports the growth of hundreds of venture businesses through a wide network of SBI Group, its fund investors, and portfolio companies globally. It currently has invested in a total of 1,184 domestic and overseas companies. SBI Investment also supports open innovation by offering separate account management services to its corporate clients seeking to set up their corporate venture capital (CVC) funds. The firm has managed CVC funds for Japanese corporate businesses such as Nikon, INTAGE, Mitsui Mining & Smelting, House Foods Group, and SUBARU. From 1st May 2023, SBI Investment becomes an umbrella of SBI PE Holdings, an intermediate holding company of SBI Holdings and SBI Shinsei Bank for their private equity business.
