PIMCO is a global investment manager founded in Newport Beach, California in 1971. The firm started as a subsidiary of Pacific Life Insurance Company to manage separate accounts for institutional clients. In 2000, it was acquired by Allianz SE (“Allianz”), a large global financial services company based in Germany, although it operates as a separate and autonomous subsidiary of Allianz. Today, PIMCO has global offices throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The firm has developed its alternative platform across public and private credit, global macro, commodities, volatility, and real estate. PIMCO's investment process integrates insights from its Cyclical Forums which focus on market and economic trends over the coming six to 12 months and the annual Secular Forum which projects trends over the coming three to five years. These top-down views are complemented by bottom-up perspectives from specialists and quantitative analysis of individual securities and portfolio construction. The Investment Committee, which is composed of senior investment professionals, drives decision-making on a daily basis.
