Nuveen

Nuveen is a fund management firm, TIAA’s asset management unit, was acquired by TIAA in October 2014. The unit operates as a separate subsidiary within TIAA, retaining its brand and multi-boutique operating model. In addition to their broad array of traditional equity and fixed-income assets, they offer access to a wide range of liquid and illiquid alternative strategies in asset classes such as real estate, real assets (farmland, timber, infrastructure) private equity, and private debt. The firm’s private equity strategy maintains an active equity co-investment program in which they invest directly in transactions led by their partner private equity sponsors. This approach provides access to unique investment opportunities alongside experienced private equity fund managers. Nuveen also manages long/short and market-neutral hedge funds, typically in stocks of US companies with an objective of long-term capital appreciation. Nuveen also provides advisory services to separately managed accounts. Nuveen real estate manages funds making direct real estate investments in value-added and core assets. The firm targets hospitality, industrial, multi-family, office, residential, and retail properties across the US. Nuveen's infrastructure arm manages clean energy, agribusiness, and farmland sectors across Europe and other countries across the world.
