Formed in 1937, JP Morgan Asset Management is a hedge fund management firm as part of the asset management business of JP Morgan Chase & Co. The firm provides discretionary investment management services and products to institutional investors. These products and services cover the full spectrum of asset classes including liquid alternatives. The real estate arm focuses on opportunities in commercial, industrial, and residential properties on a global scale and specializes in the acquisition, development, and management of real estate assets as well as the management of private real estate funds. In December 2014, it was announced that JP Morgan Asset Management had purchased the Asia-Pacific real estate platform Aviva Investors. JP Morgan’s infrastructure group operates within the unlisted infrastructure sector through both open-ended and closed-ended vehicles, targeting investments in shipping and infrastructure-related debt. JP Morgan Asset Management operates across hedge fund strategies including alternative risk premia, arbitrage, long/short, and macro. The Global Special Situations Division also invests in private debt.
