Dunlap Equity Management

Dunlap Equity Management ("DEM") is a California-based hedge fund management firm that was established in 1990. It seeks to create a portfolio of long and short securities in primarily micro/small- and mid-cap U.S. equities. Long investments are deemed to be growing in intrinsic value and to be undervalued, whereas short investments are viewed to be losing value. DEM focuses on what it believes to be the most inefficiently valued companies or sectors of the market, typically due to the financial markets’ disadvantage in evaluating any type of change. The short portfolio, typically more diversified across market caps, is intended to make money on projected individual stock price declines and to provide a downside hedge to market volatility. The majority of DCP’s assets are held in longer-term investments, ranging from 12 to 36 months.
