Crescent Capital Corporation, the predecessor to Crescent, was founded and began managing assets in 1991. In 1995, Crescent joined Trust Company of the West (“TCW”) to augment TCW’s fixed income capabilities and offer its clients knowledge and expertise within the below investment-grade credit markets. The Crescent team was rebranded as the TCW Leveraged Finance Group and remained at TCW for the next 15 years. On January 1, 2011, the founders of Crescent spun out from TCW as an independent, employee-owned, registered investment advisory firm retaining all of its professional personnel and investment performance track records spanning more than 20 years. In January 2021, Sun Life Financial completed its 51% acquisition of Crescent Capital Group. As part of the transaction, Sun Life contributed $750 million of seed capital for future investments.
