Carlyle focuses on industries including aerospace & government services, consumer, media & retail, financial services, global infrastructure, healthcare, industrial, technology, and US real estate. The firm originates, structures, and acts as lead equity investor in management-led buyouts, strategic minority equity investments, equity private placements, consolidations and build-ups, and growth capital financing. Its real estate arm targets assets that offer value propositions to deep and growing demand pools – and avoids investing in sectors less correlated with GDP and broader macroeconomic conditions. Its high-conviction sectors include single- and multi-family rental, active adult, self-storage, and industrial. Carlyle's global infrastructure team invests in long-term projects across the transportation, energy, digital, water, renewables, and power sectors. Within renewables, Carlyle has invested in utility-scale, commercial & industrial, community renewables generation & storage, and bi-directional EV charging. In 2011, Carlyle purchased Dutch private equity firm AlpInvest. The acquisition diversified Carlyle’s activities, placing greater emphasis on fund of funds investing. AlpInvest operates and invests independently, but has representatives from both companies on the board. The Carlyle Group expanded its asset management operations with the purchase of Vermillion Asset Management in 2012. Vermillion is a commodities investment manager, and the acquisition enabled Carlyle Commodity Management to expand its reach within the futures and commodities trading markets.Read more ⏷
