Blue Owl Capital is an alternative asset manager that provides investors access to direct lending and GP capital solutions strategies through a variety of vehicles. The firm’s breadth of offerings and permanent capital base enables it to offer a differentiated, holistic platform of capital solutions to participants throughout the private market ecosystem, including alternative asset managers and private middle market corporations. Blue Owl’s history begins with the key milestones of both Owl Rock and Dyal. Owl Rock was founded in 2016 by Doug Ostrover, Marc Lipschultz, and Craig Packer to address the evolving need for direct lending solutions by middle-market companies, and Dyal was founded in 2010 by Michael Rees to fill the need for flexible capital solutions for GPs of private capital managers. Dyal has since become a leading capital solutions provider to large, multi-product private capital managers. Dyal manages funds that seek to acquire minority equity stakes in or provide debt financing to, alternative asset managers worldwide. Dyal operates the following four investment strategies: GP Minority Equity Investments, GP Debt Financing, Professional Sports Minority Investments, and Co-Investment and Structured Equity. In December 2021, Blue Owl Capital acquired Oak Street Real Estate Capital, LLC, so their flexible real estate solutions were added to Blue Owl’s platform.
