About

ANOBAKA is a Tokyo-based venture capital firm targeting internet start-ups primarily in Japan. It focuses on seed-stage investments, providing hands-on support to IT start-ups operating in the areas such as mobile apps, social media, e-commerce, cloud computing as well as Fintech. The firm also invests overseas, particularly in the US, Southeast Asia, and India. Previously known as KLab Venture Partners and KVP, ANOBAKA was established in 2015 as a wholly owned subsidiary of KLab Inc., a Tokyo-based online mobile gaming company. KLab launched its venture capital business in 2011 through a joint venture co-founded with SBI Holdings, called Klab Venture. Klab Venture invested out of its maiden fund, SBI-KLab Startup Fund I, co-managed with SBI Investment. ANOBAKA became independent through a management buyout (MBO) announced in November 2020, where its management, Hirokazu Nagano, acquired 70% of shares from KLab.
