Advantage Partners (AP) is a Tokyo-based private equity firm specializing in buyout investments primarily in Japan. Domestically, it invests in mid-cap companies across a diversified range of industries, including the consumer, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors. It seeks various investment opportunities including business succession, corporate carve-out as well as public-to-private transactions. The firm's three fund strategies are: 1.) a buyout fund focused on medium-sized Japan-based companies, 2.) a buyout fund focused on medium-sized companies in Asia, and 3.) a Private Solutions fund that supports the growth of its portfolio companies in Japan via minority investment. Advantage Partners also invests overseas, especially in Greater China and Southeast Asia as it has set up its first Asia-focused fund in 2016. It focuses on buyout opportunities in Asian companies that have the potential to enter or expand into the Japanese market, benefit from access to Japanese IP technology, or are likely to acquire or merge with Japanese companies.
