Adams Street Partners is dedicated exclusively to private markets investment management, and invests across the primary, secondary, credit, venture/growth and co-investment strategies. The initial focus of the firm was in direct venture and growth equity investing. The firm's primary fund investment activity started when it began committing to primary partnerships on behalf of its clients. Over time, the firm integrated secondary, co-investments and private credit investments into their fund of funds. While the majority of the firm's assets are managed in commingled funds, its experience with separate accounts dates back to 1984, when it started managing fund of funds mandates. In recent years, a larger proportion of its asset growth has been in the form of both discretionary and non-discretionary separately managed accounts, and the expansion of its separate account capabilities and client base has become an important element of Adams Street Partners' long term growth plans. Adams Street Partners' growth and global expansion has mirrored that of the private markets industry overall. While the roots of the firm are in Chicago, it also has a number of other offices both in the US and internationally, including London, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, New York, Boston, Austin, Munich and Seoul.
