Founded in 1998 and based in California, US, Turnstone Systems Inc. operates as a provider of software and hardware solutions for copper loop management. Turnstone's first and primary product, the Copper CrossConnect CX100, enables telephone access providers to remotely evaluate, manage, and control the DSL connections within the telephone routing system, permitting identification of copper lines which are suitable for DSL and making installation and maintenance of DSL on those lines cheaper and easier. Turnstone's customer base consists almost entirely of Competitive Local Exchange Carriers, (CLECs).
In 1998, Turnstone Systems Inc. raised an undisclosed amount of venture funding from new investor Matrix Partners. And, in February 2000, Turnstone Systems Inc. raised USD 87 million in an IPO, selling 3 million shares at USD 29.
