taskey Inc.

Based in Tokyo, Japan, and founded in 2014, taskey Inc. operates the e-Story service "peep" which develops and provides digital IP content for smartphone users. As of 2021, Oishi Romy is the founder and CEO of the company. In the initial stage, taskey was operating as a platform where its users could post novels/ contents, and in 2017, the startup launched its e-Story app, and service “peep”, with the aim of creating and publishing proprietary digital content.

In June 2021, taskey raised an unspecified amount of series D funding from new investor Tencent. taskey is mainly focused on its smartphone-optimized e-Story service “peep”, which provides digital IP contents such as novels, and manga mainly centered on the text and gives a new browsing experience to its users by making full use of illustrations and videos. The company has developed a new kind of entertainment, "Cinema Novel” which incorporates both video and text, and when the user tap to read the text, a video will play which corresponds to the scene. Around 3 million people have downloaded taskey’s mobile application, and the firm has created more than 2000 works with the help of professional content producers and writers.

taskey has plans to utilize its funds for its expansion into the US and other countries and aims to further the development of digital IP content and media mix. The company also plans to scale up its team thereby enhancing the development and marketing activities of products and digital IP contents.
