Founded in 2012 by co-founders Christofer Lindgren, Gunnar Henriksson, Malcolm Norlin, and Mikael Lindstrom and based in Stockholm, Sweden, Re:NewCell AB manufactures textile fabric garments. In June 2024, Altor acquired the remaining assets of Re:NewCell AB following its bankruptcy. Following the transaction, the company will be renamed Circulose. The company's proprietary technology breaks down used cotton and other cellulose-based fabrics into circlouse pulp.
This pulp is a sustainable alternative to raw materials like cotton, oil, or wood in producing viscose, lyocell, and other biodegradable regenerated fibres. This process enables the reuse of cellulose-rich textiles, including worn-out garments and production scraps, which reduce landfills or incinerators. The June 2024 restructuring will enhance the firm's capabilities and textile offerings.
