Established in 2016 and based in Suzhou, China, Qingtao (Kunshan) Energy Development is a lithium battery production materials and equipment developer, mainly engaged in the development, production and sales of solid-state lithium battery production materials and equipment. The company was founded by a team led by Zewen Nan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at Tsinghua University. At present, it has applied for more than 500 national patents, half of which are invention patents, more than 300 of which have been authorized, and has established cooperative relationships with mainstream car companies such as BAIC and SAIC. In May 2023, the company closed a round of strategic investment from SAIC Capital. The company mainly provides customers with three series of products: solid-state lithium batteries, composite materials and automation equipment, specifically VDA cells, power battery packs, oxide solid electrolyte powders, diaphragm coating machines and so on. The company's solid-state battery series products are mainly used in new energy vehicles and other fields. As of December 2022, the company's annual revenue was CNY 540 million and net income was CNY -256 million.
