Het Gastenhuis

Founded in 2014 and based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Het Gastenhuis, is a residence for those suffering from dementia, providing health and home care services. Annemieke Bambach and Clasien Schakenraad, are the founders of the company. In May 2014, NPM Capital and Amvest acquired a controlling stake in Het Gastenhuis, however, the financial terms remain undisclosed. As of June 2021, the firm operates 14 houses across the Netherlands and staffs 440 employees.

Het Gastenhuis is a chain of small-scale nursing homes that offers 24-hr dementia care to elderly people. Apart from the conventional nursing homes, Het Gastenhuis provides a guesthouse/ residence where the people may own their own apartment and will be considered more like a resident, than as a patient. The guesthouse will be managed by a couple with a background in health care and will be staying in servants’ residences next to the house. The firm owns guesthouses in villages, city centers, and residential areas.

Each guesthouse will be having twenty apartments and will be provided with hotel and service facilities such as food, laundry, cleaning, and maintenance, etc. The company generates its revenue by charging a fee between EUR 1,575 and EUR 2,435 per person per month, depending on the price range of the apartment chosen. As of 2021, Het Gastenhuis has plans to expand regionally and is constructing 20 additional residences.
