The company was founded by co-CEOs Artjem Weissbeck and Andreas Tussing. In July 2022, Charles GmbH raised EUR 1 million in series A funding led by Salesforce Ventures with participation from Accel and HV Capital. Charles GmbH started as a clothing brand that sells exclusively via WhatsApp but later recognized the massive demand in the business-to-business market and decided to pivot into developing conversational commerce software. The company’s software solution connects chat app APIs including WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger with shopping and customer relationship management systems such as Shopify, SAP, and HubSpot. Companies use the software to integrate their existing e-commerce tools with chat apps and bots to make a user-friendly interface that allows customers to ask questions, discover products, order and re-order, track shipping, get return labels and also get personalized notifications about deals through chats. Charles GmbH provides two service packages: a Start-up program and an Enterprise plan with the former is for companies with the former being addressed to companies with fewer than 50 employees.
