Based in Utrecht, Netherlands, and founded in 2010, by Koos Breen, Black Bear Carbon BV, aka Black Bear Carbon, Black Bear, operates as a company that develops technologies to upcycle rubber from end-of-life tyres for use in tyres, technical rubber goods, plastics, paint, and ink. In May 2021, Black Bear Carbon B.V. raised EUR 2.5 million in venture debt funding led by NL. The round was part of a EUR 7.5 million equity and debt funding. As of August 2021, the company appoints Victor Vreeken as CEO. The company produces two grades for use in tire applications i.e., BBC T30 and BBC T30S, that serve as a flexible, one-to-one substitute for a variety of current grades with a wide range of conventional furnace and gas black grades NEPtune PM50 and NEPtune PM30, NEPtune i120 and NEPtune i100, NEPtune C60 and NEPtune C80, for plastic and ink and coating. Additionally, the company produces two significant by-products, tire pyrolytic oil (TPO) and tire pyrolytic gas (TPG). TPO is utilized as a fuel, chemical feedstock, or carbon black feedstock oil. TPG is a high-calorific gas that uses for the production process transformed into heat, electricity, or steam.
