one of the standard products, and a more tailored approach may be more
appropriate – be this a download of some carefully-targeted data at one
extreme, or a specially-commissioned research project at the other. Either way, Preqin is ready to respond to your

Data Downloads
Sometimes customers have a one-off requirement for some very
specific data to help them with a project or to assist in their marketing or
business development. This can apply to
both customers who may not have used Preqin before, or to existing subscribers
who need a particular cut of data. In these cases a one-off download of data
from Preqin's databases can be the quickest and most cost-effective solution. Here are some examples of recent data
downloads:
- Conference organiser wanted a listing of all GP
and LP contacts in the GCC region, complete with e-mail and postal addresses,
for promoting a conference.
- Renewable energy start-up firm wanted a listing
of European and US early-stage venture firms that are active in this field.

all new US-based funds currently on the road, but an assessment of new funds
likely to be launched over the coming 12 – 18 months.

assessment of the amount of ‘dry powder' (i.e. committed but as yet uncalled

Bespoke Research
Sometimes a customer has very specific requirements that can
only be met by commissioning a tailored research project. Preqin's research

of recent bespoke research projects:
- Mezzanine firm is about 12 months away from its
next likely fundraising, and wanted to prepare the ground by surveying the
views of its existing LPs, and understanding where they were satisfied, and
where they saw the need for improvement in performance, strategy, service and
communications. A tailored LP survey gave the answers.
- Asian buyout firm needed an assessment of market
activity in North Asia, for purposes of demonstrating its competitive position
for its current fundraising. Preqin prepared a report complete with the
necessary data and analysis.
- Industry association needed a deeper
understanding of how investing institutions looked at and are using listed
private equity vehicles. Preqin and the client developed a questionnaire targeted
