Based in the US, and founded in 1989, CORMETECH, Inc. as a joint equity company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Corning Incorporated, and Mitsubishi Petrochemical (MPC). The firm producing selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts and carbon dioxide adsorbers used in power generation, industrial processes, and environmental compliance systems. In 2017, Energy Capital Partners acquired Cormetech.
In March 2022, Innovative Emissions Control Inc acquired Cormetech from Energy Capital Partners. As of July 2025, the company is led by CEO Patricia Martinez. CORMETECH Inc. , manufactures SCR catalysts that are used to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions in high-temperature industrial environments.
These catalysts are designed for various conditions, including high-dust and high-ash applications. The company also produces carbon dioxide adsorbers for both direct air capture and point source capture systems. These adsorbers are used to remove CO₂ from ambient air or from industrial exhaust streams. In addition to manufacturing, CORMETECH provides services such as installation, monitoring, regeneration, and recycling of its products, supporting a full lifecycle approach to emissions control.
The March 2022 acquisition will help Cormetech to build on its leading technology platform to develop new innovative technologies in the carbon capture and water treatment fields.
